How to Overcome Your Speaking Anxiety?
A practical workshop to help you feel calmer and more at ease speaking Dutch.
Do you know the Dutch words, but feel stressed when it’s time to actually use them? Maybe your heart starts racing, your mind goes blank, or you quickly switch back to English.
In this small-group workshop, expat psychologist Jeannette Bolck and Dutch teacher for expats Anouk van der Linde combine psychology and language learning to help you understand why speaking Dutch can feel so stressful — and what you can do about it.
What we’ll explore together
You’ll discover why speaking a new language can trigger stress, learn to recognise your own triggers and experience practical ways to calm your nervous system.
We’ll also practise everyday situations in Dutch. You’ll learn strategies for moments when you can’t find the words, worry about making mistakes or feel the pressure rising.
The goal isn’t perfect Dutch. It’s to help you stay in the conversation and speak with more ease.
Who is it for?
For expats and internationals with basic Dutch (A2+) who understand simple written and spoken Dutch about everyday situations, but don’t yet feel comfortable speaking it.
Most of the workshop will be in English, with practical exercises in Dutch.
